Design 200
I feel that dsgn200 was a different approach to an introduction class but i enjoyed the class. I feel that it was a good overview of the what is to come in the design field. Also doing everything on the internet was smart. Its easier for people to post their assignments online then to waste paper and ink. Also for a class of that size it is easier and more organized to do all the assignments online. I also like cradle to cradle a lot. Good book. Overall i liked the class a lot

Coleman Project Part 3
Rachel
For the final stages of the Coleman Project our group worked on rapping up the final touches on the presentation slides and images. We also met a couple times so when editing the presentation slides we had everyone's opinion on how it should look. We decided to touch up the sketches and keep most of them plain but for the kiosk we decided to add some wood texture to give it a natural feel. Then after finishing the touch ups we met again to assign slides for the presentation of the powerpoint. Be decided to start to presentation off followed by Chris then Ian then myself. Julia decided to talk about the product since she rendered all the pots. Chris again presented but this time he did the packaging details. Rachel talked about the kiosk since she designed it. I feel that overall the presentation went smooth since we kept it short and sweet but we efficiently covered all the topics. Personally I scanned in everyone's sketches and class noted then I edited all the photos and sketches in Adobe Photoshop because i was the only one who had it. I then uploaded them to dropbox so that Rachel could use them in the presentation. During the presentation I had a short part that was just going over the process of how we found what product to develop. I feel that the Coleman Project as a whole is a good idea for a design 200 class. I think everyone's projects went well. I enjoyed seeing all the groups processes and products.

Coleman Project Part 2
This week for the Coleman presentation we are in the final stages of the process and presentation. We made the decision in the last couple classes to create pots with collapsible handles and packaging them in a recyclable cardboard cylinder with cloth stretched around it. Now we are finishing the drawing and sketches and making them look good through photoshop. The final part is to bring everything together in a powerpoint.
What i have been doing for the group project is scanning everyones sketches and notes then photoshopping all of them to look as if they have been computer generated. For the notes i have been editing the contrast to make it look a little cleaner. Also i have been cleaning up all of the sketches making them look a little better.

First things first, I would like to say that working with 6 others plus myself is pretty challenging especially when it comes to agree on something specific because everyone has their own style and opinions. But other than that I personally think we work efficient as a group. We are very organized, open minded, and we thoroughly think through ideas.
I have actively participated in the discussions and made some personal notes and drawings. I have proposed a couple ideas of bringing the outdoors indoors. I was leaning towards utilizing the natural resources (outdoors) for an appliance. I didn't really go into specific ideas because i wanted to keep an open mind. I feel though the market industry for this isn't really big since people buy appliances every 5 or so years.
To start off, the "Coleman Project," we as a group all went around and brainstormed what we thought Coleman as a company meant to us and to its customers. This was to start the thinking process but not to get stuck on a specific idea for a product. From there we sort of collaborated as a group to get a couple good sentences on what Coleman stands for. From there we each came up with a concept or two on how Coleman can leap into the "indoor goods" market. We then categorized different indoor good markets and we looked for problems within these categories. After that we wanted to identify what demographic the user should be/who we should market to.

Reading Reflection: Heskett Chpt 9-10
The last chapter of Design is the about the future of design. I believe the last couple paragraphs summarize this chapter perfect. If the world is moving in a more technological based society people have to realize that it is designers creating the interfaces and making the technology easier to use for society. So taking that into consideration, design shapes our lives. Also there will always be room for improvement. I think though we need to take advancements in technology into consideration. I think we will be fine until we develop a computer that can think for itself because as of now computers need a user but when computers don't need a user then i think we will start to create problems.

Reading Reflection: Chapters 4-6 Cradle to Cradle
The good thing about the environment is that it will replenish itself naturally but once humans over use an area then it won't go back because of soil erosion and lack of nutrients. Over use of a land is one of the biggest problems we have with the environment. Over use of the land leads to desertification and the cause of over use is because of humans over populating an area. Designing to return them nutrients/products to the environment they came from is a good idea. Feed the environment. I believe designing for the environment will not be done unless companies are willing to pay for it out of their pockets. Companies don't want to lose profit. So the government has to step in but the government has bigger and better issues to worry about.
